My client – a property & casualty insurance company in Monroe, NY, is urgently seeking a suitably experienced Bookkeeper to join their growing team and assist with keeping accurate financial records to contribute to the company’s success.
This is an on-site role, with the possibility of a semi-hybrid schedule after 90-day training is completed, however, the office team & setting are vibrant and fun and they find many of their teammates prefer to work in the office.
The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years experience in bookkeeping and be proficient with programs like QuickBooks and Sage, should be detail-focused and able to manage their workload and be approachable and friendly. Previous experience within the insurance industry is highly desirable.
Bookkeeper Job Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 3 years Bookkeeping experience
- Previous experience within the Insurance or property and casualty industry is highly preferred.
- Previous experience with bookkeeping and accounting software such as Peachtree, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Excel is essential
- Strong organizational skills, able to manage own workload well.
- Strong attention to detail, numerically orientated with strong financial acumen.
- Confident in data analysis and reporting.
- Proficient with all Microsoft Office suite programs.
Bookkeeper Job Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain and manage financial records, including ledgers, journals, invoices, and receipts.
- Coordinate accounts payable and receivable activities, ensuring timely processing and accuracy.
- Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
- Reconcile bank statements and track cash flow to ensure the accuracy of financial records.
- Assist with budget preparation and financial forecasting.
- Handle payroll processing, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.
- Work closely with our accounting team to implement and maintain internal financial controls and procedures.
- Liaise with external auditors, providing necessary information and documentation for audits.
- Stay updated on industry trends, changes in regulations, and best practices in bookkeeping and financial management.
