My client, a Boutique Property Management company based in Manhattan is urgently seeking an experienced Handyman to join their team to take care of ongoing maintenance work to the buildings. Their buildings vary in size from 8-unit condo complexes to 65-unit apartment buildings. The role comes with a fantastic salary and benefits, where you will be working with a small, supportive team.
Essential skills and experience
- The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 3 years of previous similar experience,
- Experience in carpentry ( woodwork ) plastering and basic plumbing.
- Great customer service/tenant relations experience.
- Confident in the use of power tools and hand tools.
- Excellent communication skills, and strong people skills.
- Previous janitorial/cleaning experience would be beneficial.
Duties and role
- The candidate will be required to assist the supers, ensuring day-to-day repairs and maintenance jobs are completed in the building
- The candidate will work closely with the superintendent to support 3 small buildings which are all on the same street.
- Ensure action remedial work is carried out to apartments for plastering, carpentry, and painting,
- Required to assist with painting in communal areas when needed.
- Be available to take part and assist in larger projects.
- Ensure and extend friendly behavior to owners/tenants in the buildings.
- Respond to and keep an updated record of reports from tenants
- Ensure that job sheets are filled for repairs completed.
- Required to assist with obtaining outside help and advice for larger problems
