Position Overview:
We are seeking a talented and experienced Landscape Architect to join our team in Fairfield, CT. The Landscape Architect will play a key role in designing and managing landscape projects from conception to completion, ensuring high-quality and environmentally sustainable outcomes. While a Bachelor’s degree is required for this position, a Master’s degree is preferred. Membership or eligibility for membership with ASLA (American Society of Landscape Architects) is preferred but not essential.
Senior Landscape Architect Job Key Responsibilities:
- Project Design and Planning: Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and project teams to develop innovative and functional landscape designs that meet the unique needs and requirements of each project.
- Site Analysis and Assessment: Conduct thorough site analysis and assessment to evaluate environmental conditions, soil composition, topography, and existing vegetation, ensuring designs are responsive to site context and ecological considerations.
- Native Plant Selection and Ecological Integration: Advocate for the use of native plant species in landscape designs to promote biodiversity, enhance ecosystem services, and support local wildlife habitats. Collaborate with local ecologists and conservationists to integrate ecological principles into design solutions.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite) to communicate design intent and specifications to contractors and project stakeholders.
- Project Management: Oversee project implementation, including contractor coordination, construction administration, and quality control, to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
- Client Communication and Presentation: Communicate effectively with clients, presenting design concepts, progress updates, and project deliverables clearly and engagingly. Solicit feedback and incorporate client input into design revisions as needed.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with local zoning regulations, environmental regulations, and permitting requirements throughout the design and construction process.
Senior Landscape Architect Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in landscape design and project management, preferably with a focus on high-end residential, municipal, or commercial projects.
- Membership or eligibility for membership with ASLA (American Society of Landscape Architects) is preferred but not essential.
- Proficiency in industry-standard design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite) and familiarity with sustainable design principles and practices.
- Strong design sensibility, creative problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively convey complex ideas and concepts to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment, while also managing multiple projects independently.
- Passion for sustainability, ecological stewardship, and promoting the use of native plants in landscape design.
